Before and After

This my be old news to some of you because I've all ready posted the pictures on Facebook, but here are the Before and After pictures of my kitchen island.
I forgot to take pictures of it before I took all the doors off. So you can see what it looked like in the above picture.

I used Valspar Chalk Paint, Wax Sealer, and Antiquing Stain.
I applied two coats of the chalk paint, sanded, sealed and applied the antiquing.

Yesterday I had one coat of Minwax Clear Wood Wax for some extra protection on the top.
That took some elbow grease!! I would make sure to use a buffer if ever doing such a big surface again.  I am used to waxing picture frames. LOL!

I love the way it turned out.  Next I will do our entryway bench :)

Hope you are all having a great day! It's been HOT in the midwest!! BUT I am NOT complaining ;)

Firecrackers & New Friends

Hello Everyone.
It's the start of another beautiful day in Missouri. I hope it's beautiful wherever you are!! Yesterday I started a new project. I am chalk painting our kitchen island to match our dinning room furniture. Our kitchen, dinning room, and living room are all open and really pretty much one big room. Painting the island will make the color scheme flow so I am looking forward to getting it finished. I will post before and after pictures when I am done.

I have several Americana/Patriotic items in my Etsy shop and this morning I added this cute Firecracker Candle Mat to the mix.

It has been hand stitched on tea stained muslin with a warm and natural batting and backed with a blue ticking. Click HERE to see listing.

Yesterday I was out watering the flowers....
(Here's a few)

and I saw some new friends going in our fountain.
 Cute little frogs!
I am not sure what kind these are but it's the first time I've seen frogs like these.
We had a really big one living in there too and Mike said he was still there when he lifted up the screen to see how much water was in there. It's not a very big fountain and we may have some battling frogs here pretty soon. LOL!

Hope you are having a great day!

Birthday's and a Boat

Boy, it's been a long time since my last post :(
At least I am here now.
The month of May brought us two special birthdays. On May 20th my Dad turned 73 and on May 28th Mike's Mom turned 92.

We drove back to NY to celebrate my Dad's birthday and to pick up a couple things we left at our old house. There are still a couple things to pick up but that will have to wait for a U-Haul trailer. It was nice to spend time with my parents for a couple days and get to see my brother and his wife for my Dad's birthday.

Last weekend we drove to Indiana for Mike's Mom's birthday. Kayleigh's boyfriend, Sean, came a long with us and Eleanor was glad to see everyone. Mike's sister, Norma, and her daughter, Jamie, was there with her kids.

The past couple weeks we have been enjoying and getting used to our new toy.
A new boat :)

Mike has driven a boat before but I haven't.
I wish it drove like a car, but it doesn't, so it takes some getting used to.
We don't have a dock so we have to put it in and take it out of the water each time we use it.
We made sure there weren't many people out the first time we put it in :)
Jack really likes to ride on the boat. Our little Co-Captain.
My first time driving. LOL
We were able to get out last Sunday and Monday. It was much busier over the weekend but I think the majority of people were at the beach.

It's very relaxing. We are past the point of breaking in the motor now and we are hoping to get out with a tube this weekend. I will have to post some pictures of that :)

I hope you are all off to a great start to your summer!

Mike's Birthday

Mike's 52nd Birthday was on Sunday. Saturday we went down to the arch and walked around a little bit. It was chilly Saturday so we didn't spend a lot of time there.  That whole area is under construction so we weren't able to go up in the arch or the museum area. It's going to be beautiful when it's all done.

Kayleigh and I thought we needed to help hold up the arch ;)
We walked over to see the riverboats.  It would have been pretty chilly to go on a cruise that day!
Mike was calling Kayleigh, "Indiana" for Indian Jones. She's so cute and fashionable :)
After walking around outside we went to do a little shopping,  INSIDE.
 "A gift??"
 "Let me help..."
 "Oh, nothing to chew on..."
"But you better let me smell them to make sure they are all right..."
Mike's lost quite a bit of weight so we got him some new clothes that fit.
Shirts, shorts, and a light weight pull over jacket.
Another year has gone by....
Mike says, "We get better with age, like fine wine".
Thanks for stopping by!

Sun & A Great Deal

The sun is out today and my body is screaming for it.
So I am going out on the front porch to sit and stitch in the sun.
I am sure my buddy will be right beside me cause
soaking up the sun is one of his favorite things to do.

Before I leave I want to show you my new floss holder!
I got it at Michael's and I was able to use my 40% off coupon so it was a great deal!
I have it in color order and was able to use the duplicate shades at the bottom for whites, black/gray, and browns.  Love it! Nice and neat and much easier to find colors.

Hope you all have a great day!
